LANTERN PARADE 2012 - FRIDAY 23 MARCH – The Square Palmerston North
The lantern parade in 2011 was a great success and we are aiming to attract more people to the 2012 parade with more workshops compared to the previous event, these workshops are to be held in March 2012. The workshops are aimed at primary school aged children so they can make a lantern using supplied materials and their own creativity; to bring to the parade. The craft lanterns involve using a 1.5 litre soft drink bottle so children will be encouraged to bring a used (and washed) bottle from home if possible. Pieces of ribbon from Christmas or birthday gifts can also be reused on the lanterns. Glow sticks, to be used to light the craft lanterns, will be for sale on the evening of the parade at the Festival of Cultures gazebo.
There are to be a mixture of other sized lanterns plus entertainment on the stage
Wardens will be lining the parade route which is to start and finish at the front of the stage.
So bring your lantern, camera, smiles and we will see you amongst the lights!
