The Square - Saturday 24 March - 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. FREE

See the world on your back doorstep at Festival of Cultures 2012.

You don’t have to travel far to experience cultures from all corners of the earth at the World Food, Craft and Music Fair. Each year even more of our local ethnic communities add to the colour and vibrancy of the Festival of Cultures, and this year will be no exception. The day is a vibrant display of culture, craft, colour, music, food and dance. There will be a variety of local performances from Thailand, Cambodia, Ireland, China, Russia, India, the Pacific Islands, Latin America and Japan to name a few. This year is set to be bigger and better than ever before and for the first time the popular Wellington Dragon Dance group will be performing between 11.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m.

There will be food stalls, performances from around the globe and information available about various countries on the day, which means families can experience many of the world’s traditions right here in the heart of the Manawatu! Food has always been a highlight of the festival with many community groups serving up their traditional dishes and ‘specialties’. This year, alongside our local cultural groups there is a special treat in store - we have our very own “Taste of Culture”, where audiences will be treated to food demonstrations from some of New Zealand's most talented chefs and cuisine experts. Don’t miss this fantastic opportunity to see some of New Zealand’s best culinary talent right here in Palmerston North.
